Spontaneous Weekend

This weekend was been a lot of fun! On Friday night we got home and decided to put a frozen pizza in the oven and watch a movie. I guess the movie was short because when we looked at the clock after the movie was over, it was only 8pm! We were trying to decide what to do for the rest of night and realized we didn't have anything planned that weekend. So Taylor looked at me and said, "Let's go to Indianapolis tonight and hang out there tomorrow." After a minute or so of convincing, we were packing our bag and heading to Indy by about 8:45! I'm not a person who normally does really spontaneous things like that, but I'm glad I agreed :)
Since it was so last minute needing a hotel reservation we were able to get a really good deal on a hotel right in Downtown Indy.

Hi from Indy!

We arrived about 12am (Indy time) and noticed all these (like 75+) really nice GMC cars on our parking level. Taylor looked in one of them and noticed they were the official cars for the NFL. That was pretty cool! I had not even thought about the Super Bowl being next weekend in Indy, but we were soon reminded.

The Super Bowl was everywhere! Even on all the check-in desks at the hotel :)

Since we got in pretty late we decided to sleep in and didn't leave the room until about noon on Saturday. We hardly ever do that so it was wonderful! Taylor had notice there was a Le Peep in downtown Indy so we decided to head there for a brunch/lunch. We just love Le Peep so much, but we did decide that ours in CU is nicer than the one in Indy. AND they don't have the banana nut flavored coffee I love so much :( Oh well, it was still delicious and a ton of food as you can see.

Next we decided to go do a little shopping at the Circle Centre mall (a nice glass mall in downtown Indy) and then headed over to the Super Bowl village. It was crazy!

They had these cool cars with every NFL teams logo all lined up. And yes, we saw multiple people tebowing in front of this specific one! Ha.

This was one of the multiple HUGE signs they had in downtown. And you can't tell from this picture but they had a really high zip line that you go on. We thought about doing it, but then saw the line, and changed out minds! Since we had pretty much explored all we wanted to in downtown and had checked out the mall, we decided to head to an area of Indy called Merdian Hills since they had the closest Old Navy and I wanted to use our Groupon that was expiring that day. We had never been to this area of Indy but it was so cool! They had all the great shopping stores that downtown does (including Nordstrom rack which I love and where we went during the 1 hour and 45 minute wait for dinner!), really nice restaurants, and is a beautiful area of town that funny enough is where all the golf courses are that Taylor has been wanting to play since last year! Ha. I think from now on, we will be staying there when we come to Indy!

We ended up seeing The Grey with Liam Nieson which was... intense. That's about all I can say about that. After the movie we decided to head to dinner. They had a ton of restuarnts in the area and we settled on Maggianos Little Italy.

(Stolen from the Internet because I forgot to take a picture!)

We use the restaurant a lot for work receptions but I had never been before since there aren't any close to us. It was awesome! They give you so much food and their cheesecake was incredible. I might even say it was the best cheesecake I've ever had! They have this cool deal where when you purchase a Classic Pasta (which is anything you would normally order at an Italian restaurant) you get a second order to take home for free! So next time you are near a Maggiano's I highly suggest checking it out, it's delicious! And make a reservation because the wait is crazy long :)

After dinner we just headed home and have been working on homework, reviewing admission applications, and doing laundry all day. It has been a wonderful weekend and I can't believe tomorrow is already Monday. Have a great week!

Brrrrrrrr

I don't think you ever get "used to" the cold and now that we live in IL, there is plenty of cold! Since we take the bus most days, there is usually a 5 or 10 minute period where we wait outside at the bus stop. The other night it was extra cold it seemed so I tried to bundle up as much as possible. I guess you could say this is how we stay warm in IL...

Thanks Mom and Dad for the Christmas gift! That collar is coming in handy :)

Anyone else ready for Spring?? :)

Who can fix it?

Taylor can! My drivers side window went out last Friday so we called a couple auto body shops to see how much it would be to fix. Let's just say that the responses we received were absurd and my car isn't exactly new, so we weren't interested in investing that much. Well, Taylor decided that he would try and fix it! So last weekend, after multiple hours of YouTube-ing videos, Taylor called and purchased the part and starting working on the car. The result? See the video below...

Go Taylor! Let us know if you need any car repairs :)

Dinner and Bowling

Why do boys not smile? Oh well!

A couple weeks ago Taylor found out that on Tuesdays you can go to a local bowling alley and receive 2 games of bowling and pizza for a really inexpensive price. So guess what we did last Tuesday? You guessed it!

If you didn't already know, Taylor loves bowling, I mean he loves it. So about the 5th frame of the first game he looked at me and said, "Ok, I reached my goal." I said, "Your goal?". "Yeah, I have certain goals I try to reach during each game so that I can bowl over 200." I couldn't help but laugh! My goal is generally to not put it in the gutter each time, let alone have a certain number of pins by each frame! Haha.

Look at that form (and yes, this shot was a strike)!

Well the night was a lot of fun and I'm sure you if you're ever in the area on a Tuesday night, you will find us at the bowling alley every now and then :) Have a great weekend!

Sam's Cafe

(Photo stolen from the internet!)

We really enjoy trying out new restaurants around town and this past weekend we checked another one off out list! Ashley, our hair stylist, suggested trying out Sam's Cafe for breakfast. I ended up being pleasantly surprised with the food. When we walked in I looked at Taylor and said, "Are you sure we want to eat here?", (ha!) it wasn't our normal cleanliness/look. We decided to just stay and check it out and it turned out to be pretty good. It's located in downtown CU which is usually a fun area to checkout. I wouldn't say it will be a must-go-to when we have visitors but it was a good breakfast for an even better price!

Wednesday Word

Taylor is reading a book currently called "Hole In Our Gospel" and the other day this was the introductory quote from a chapter he was reading...

I thought that was such a powerful and true statement of how I act so many times. I hope and pray that we can all have the courage to ask God how we can help others in need and not be afraid if His answer isn't exactly what we thought it would be.

Happy Wednesday!

122-52

Taylor played on one of my boss's basketball teams the other night since they were missing a few people. I think he had a lot of fun (he is always up for a game of basketball) but the game didn't turn out quite how he was hoping.

The final score was... 122-52! Shocked? Yeah, I was too. I guess my boss's team is more of a "recreational" team but since the competitive league didn't have enough teams they randomly placed rec teams in the competitive league. I guess when that happens you get scores like 122-52! Come to find out, the other team had a few players that used to play pro overseas and multiple players who played at our local community college. So that score made a little more sense after hearing that.
Taylor, as usual, played very well and probably had about half his teams points! So I think the guys were pretty impressed. Maybe he'll get asked to play next year? :)

What truly matters

Tayor and I are completely on the Tebow bandwagon and I don't see us getting off anytime soon. I don't care if the Broncos win or if they lose; I don't care if he throws the game winning touchdown in the 4th quarter or 50 interceptions; what I do care about are the lives that Tebow is impacting and the stance that he is taking for Christ. Those are the things truly matter and will last far beyond his NFL career, or any of our careers. ESPN posted this article today and it almost made me teary eyed at my desk. I just had to share...

Also, sorry for being MIA for so long. I know it's nothing new :) I plan on working on lots of posts/updates this weekend since we have a 3 day weekend!
